Water shoes for public pool????

I didn't take DD to the pool all summer, the last time I took her she wasn't walking yet. Now that she is walking I am curious if I should buy her water shoes (I think that's what they are called, they have grips on the bottom)? Do you take them off when s/he goes into the water?

I read that it not only can prevent them from slipping but also from warts at a public pool.

I would love to know what you other moms do.

My kids just wear flip flops to the pool. I could see those water shoes being worn by a toddler to keep them from slipping. The shoes can be worn in the pool but not necessary.

If my kids were going to a lake, river etc. I'd make them wear those shoes.

My DD, who is 2 1/2 still wears them.  They are great.  One step ahead makes good ones.
