your thoughts on clorox

So ladies, I told the girls at work that im pregnant and it really had not dawned on me that clorox might be harmful. One of the ladies said, you don't need to be using the clorox! I have to clean about 20 toys plus a table and chairs and cabinets on a daily basis with bleach...I work at a daycare. I wondered your thoughts on clorox/bleach while pregnant. I use gloves everytime and I don't over do it so what would you say? Should I bring it up to my boss? They are really picky about keeping toys clean and I don't want them to think im trying to get out of cleaning! WWYD?

It's no big, particularly if the room is well-ventilated and the bleach is diluted.  Generally, when sanitizing toys, you're using a diluted mixture, right?  I mean, even straight bleach isn't going to be an issue unless you're huffing it.  I highly doubt normal usage is going to hurt the babe.

I clean with clorox spray.  Yesterday, when I was scrubing my toilets, I wore gloves and covered my nose and mouth with a t-shirt.

I clean around my house with clorox all the time. I have a baby and two cats, this ship gets messy!

I just wear gloves and keep a little face mask on hand for days when the smells really gets to me. 

 

Edit: I don't live on an actual ship but on days when the cats and baby all poop at the same time I do walk around saying  "What is this? the poop deck!"

I'm in the same boat, we use bleach after every diaper change, before and after snacks/meals/ aaand I'm the closing teacher which means all the toys, we even mop the floors with it!  I checked with my dr right away and he said it's fine. 

 

good luck! looking after a room full of babies while pregnant is hard work!!
