I haven't tried prune juice but I have had dried prunes when I'm feeling backed up. They aren't great but they taste a bit like bland raisins and really don't bother me. I usually eat 3-5 of them depending on how backed up I feel and it tends to do the trick. I just got a small bag of them from the bulk bins at a local grocery store called Sprouts.
I am like clockwork in the morning so if I think I'm having issues, I will drink 6 oz the night before. Seems to work. I don't drink it everyday because it's just vile. LOL.

Be careful prune juice can be very effective. I was having issues after my c-section because all the pain killers I was pretty constipated and tried many things. After nothing worked I had two BIG glasses of prune juice. OMG everything came out for sure but EVERYTHING that had been there ever! To make things worse, when I got out of the bathroom feeling like I just ran a marathon, my husband was laughing and playing "We are the champions"! My advice is to take just a tiny little bit and experiment with your body, everyone is different and u can have more tolerance or none.
Also I just found this today. By random chance. I saw the headline "You have been pooping all wrong" (lol) and had to see what that was about, ha ha. And I thought it was a very interesting thing and a very natural way to keep things moving. What they say makes sense.
I couldn't drink straight up prune juice but I would get prune juice and apple juice and mix them together. The sweetness of the apple juice helped me get it down and both are supposed to help move things along!
I had DH buy some over the weekend but I haven't tried it yet. I've tried the dried prunes and unfortunately they don't really do anything for me. The nurses in L&D told me prune juice is VERY effective, especially when warmed, so proceed with caution!
I eat dried prunes once in a while, and even dried apricots. If you get the apricots though, get the Turkish kind from Whole Foods that aren't preserved with sulfates.
Also, I try and avoid food that is binding, and kick up the intake of high-fiber foods. No matter how clogged up you are, raw vegetables aren't going to sit in your intestines for very long, so that's a good way to get things moving also.
Just be prepared for how disgusting prune juice tastes. I can't tell you if it's effective because I can't choke it down. I've switched to apple juice which seems to work okay.

At the beginning I would drink Plumsmart because I think it tastes way better. I would drink a couple glasses a day when feeling backed up.
