What to do for chapped lips

DS's bottom lip is red and peeling.  He keeps licking it and won't stop.  I tried telling him not too and that is why it hurts but that just draws more attention to it.  He doesn't like when i put stuff on it but I did sneak ointment on it while he was asleep a couple times last night.  Any other ideas or anything that worked???

  • DS loves chapstick. Maybe you should put some on yourself a couple times a day and let him see you. He might be more willing to use it himself that way. Target also sells cereal flavored chapstick in their dollar bins... Trix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, etc. Otherwise, keep up with ointment while he sleeps.

  • I do Cerave or Aquaphor on DD's lips after brushing teeth and definitely before bed. She also bites her lower lip and has the skin under it all red and peeling.

  • I'd try chapstick or vasoline at bedtime.
