How long has everyone's insurance taken to realize its supposed to be processing claims for your LO? My LO was born August 16 and my employer finally got him on my insurance by September 5th and it is retroactive to his DOB. We keep getting bills in the mail from the hospital, pedi, other doctors, and labs saying the claims were denied and every time I call my insurance company they are either saying they never got the claim or I tell them they need to process the claim again. It's so effing frustrating!!! When I signed up for this insurance both my employer and the representative from the insurance company said this whole process would be a smooth transition but so far it has been so stressful that I break down crying every time we get another bill. WTF!?? I love my insurance company but this branch of it has shitty claims processing skills.
Re: How long did your insurance take?
That sounds really frustrating! Insurance can be hard enough when stuff goes smoothly. I hope they straighten this out for you soon.
I added my DS to my plan about 2 weeks pp. I had a 31 day window to add him. On day 30 I had to fill a Rx for him and insurance covered it.
My insurance royally effed up. They had my son in there as "Baby Boy" when he was first born and not with his name (after I sent the paperwork with his name they should have updated it) so they rejected claims. They also entered the effective date wrong -- the correct day but a month LATER. They got rejected for that, too. They were also supposed to upgrade the level of insurance for everyone in my family effective the date of his birth, but they put the wrong date on it so all of my costly bills got processed wrong. I should not have had ANY bills. FINALLY after calling them over and over and over, everything got re-processed. It took almost a month from his date of birth for them to correct the DATE of the enrollment. Then another week to re-process everything. I've never had so many problems with my insurance. It's usually great.
It's annoying as heck, but stay on them. If you your insurance is through your employer and you have a Human Resources rep at your disposal, tell them what's going on and see if they can help. Good luck.
