FuzziBunz

Anyone try these and reccomend them? I've been entertaining the idea ever since I saw them on Shark Tank. It would save a lot of money in the long run, but it would be a lot of upfront cost as well. Plus, is it really as easy as it seems?

Re: FuzziBunz

  • CDing is super easy.  I'm actually shocked.  I think they work better than disposables (no poop explosions).  I haven't used Fuzzibunz, maybe ask about that particular brand on the CD board.  But the general recommendation is to get one each of a few brands or look into a diaper trial from one of the diaper stores.  That way you can see what you like/don't like.

We bought a few each of about 6 different brands and found 4 that we like.  I liked Bum Genius 4.0 (pocket) and freetime (All-in-one), Swaddlebees Simplex, Blueberry and AMP the best.  The two I didn't like much were Happy Heinys and Tots Bots, however they're still popular brands.

The upfront cost is totally worth it, (plus you can use them for future children or sell them when you are finished to re-coup some cost) but I would definitely recommend trying a few different ones first so you know what fits your baby.  Most people spend about $500 on their stash and it pays for itself after 7 months or so.  Lurk/ask questions on the Cloth Diaper board.  They really know their stuff there and are all advocates of it.  Also look at the youtube webseries Cloth Diapering 101. It's a 7 part series and really useful.

  • I compare using cloth diapers vs disposable to being the same as the difference between using a real plate vs a paper plate.  It's just a better quality product.

  • I haven't used Fuzzibunz specifically but yeah, in general, cloth diapering is as easy as it seems. Actually, it's a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

The cloth diapering board on here is a great resource. There is a FAQ section at the top that can help you get started.

I agree with the PP, I like them much better than disposables. We had to use disposables for a couple of weeks when we were without a washing machine and I hated them. We had more poop explosions in that couple of weeks of disposables than the rest of her life combined.

As for saving money, I've done the math and our diapers paid for themselves by the time she was 10 months. (and I calculated that using the price for the cheaper diapers...I think it was Luvs)

  • Fuzzibunz are nice and trim if your baby is on the skinny side. Some people don't like them because they are too narrow between the legs and can leak. I have a ton of different CDs, including fuzzibunz. Recently I got thirsties AIO and they are by far my favorite. They don't require stuffing like pockets(fuzzibunz are pockets) however there is room to add extra stuffing if needed. They are super absorbant. they are also really cheap. Plain colors are $15 the awesome prints are around 16 on amazon. Best of all... they are 100% made in the USA. Fuzzibunz are made in China.

  • My baby isn't here yet, but I do have some Fuzzibunz to try.  However, I've been told not to buy all the same kind of diaper until you try them on YOUR baby.  Someone posted it would be like you buying multiple pairs of jeans all the same brand without trying them on first.  (Some brands of cloth diapers will fit your baby better than others.)

  • We use primarily FB.  They are our go-to diapers and the only ones we send to day care.  They work great for DS.  He is a heavy wetter, so we double stuff them and don't have problems with them leaking.  We have a variety of other diapers as well and they all work, but the majority of our stash are FB.  I know people say you should get a variety, but I started off ordering a dozen FB.

  • I haven't had a chance to use the FB yet, but the reviews I've seen all praise the elite one size. I've already prepped my stash, and the elastic was easy to adjust, and the minky inserts are much nicer to touch then microfibre. I also like that on bigger sizes you don't have snaps all over the front-FB look adorable. For my stash I bought 1-4 of each diaper (based on reviews and playing with the first ones). It seems this is a good way to try them out, because as they grow you might have gaps where a diaper doesn't work as well for you. I've used CD on family and babysitting, and they're as easy to change as disposable, and a cost savings even if using high end ones.
