baby temp

I live in Florida. My apartment stays at 76 degrees. When we brought the baby home we always put him in a short sleeved onesie, and swaddled him.

At night I know he's content. I now put him in footie pjs, and swaddle him waist down if the pjs are thin.

During the day, inside the house... I'm not sure how to keep him dressed. I need to stop swaddling him so much so he can move around some, but I'm scared that he'll be too hot or too cold. The last two days I've put him in a short sleeve shirt or onesie with pants. The day I had shorts on him I put socks on him. Does this sound right?

I'm sure this is so dumb, and I'm probably overthinking it. I just get to be pretty worrysome. TIA

Re: baby temp

  • I keep mine in a short sleeve onsie and socks.  When he goes to daycare he wears onsie, pants, and socks.

  • I live in FL too :]
We keep our air about the same as you. During the night though we put it down to 70. In the daytime, she usually has on something light. Onesie, little tank dress, etc. I always use an a and a blanket on her when she sleeps. She usually has socks on too. At night, she wears a long sleeve sleeper with her a and a swaddled up.

  • I live in Canada and it's cold. It was 9 yesterday and windy. It has snowed this week we wear fleece sleepers and have furnace on! I even have the shower cap cover on car seat ... When we had dd we did the short sleeved thing but it's cold

  • The best advice I ever got was to dress your baby like you're dressed. If you're cold enough to wear a sweater, baby gets a sweater. If you're warm enough for tank top and shorts, baby gets shorts and a light shirt. So, that's what I do.

This is what I do too.  I also think that if he is in the car seat he is always warmer, so I don't dress him as warmly then, I feel his feet to see their temp, then throw a blanket on if necessary.  At night I put him to sleep still just in a diaper and swaddled in a flannel blanket.  We keep our house at 80 at night.  I guess we have thin blood haha!
