Do you know the gauge of the needles that were used to administer it?
To make a long story short-ish, my dr prescribed the meds and syringes for me to use at home, but was insistent on drawing it up in an 18g and administering it with a 22g. When I got the meds from the pharmacy, it only came with a 21g.
If it's standard to give it with a 21g, then I'll do it, but I'm trying to understand why my dr and the nurses made a HUGE deal about switching because it's so thick. He even made my friend (who is a nurse) come in to make sure she knows how to give it to me.
Re: Question for those who have taken 17p
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Thanks! Yeah, I definitely don't want to get it with the 18g, but I'm just curious why he made such a big deal about drawing it up in the 18. My friend is a nurse so she's experienced in drawing up syringes. I wouldn't trust DH to do it, lol.

That's funny I asked the same question before! The compounding pharmacy sent it to me with 25G needles and I called my OB. They gave me 22G needles, which I draw it up with and inject it with. I'm sure 21G will be fine for both. They might have made a huge deal with drawing it up with an 18G because I noticed when I draw it up with the 22G, I get a huge air bubble, but I just keep injecting the med back into the bottle and re-injecting it without exposing the needle to air and I get rid of the bubble.
Also, small bubbles are okay with an IM injection.
Oh, how funny! I do think we are destined to be friends. :-)
Okay, I'll let my friend know about that but since she's an experienced nurse, I'm sure she'll know what to do. Thanks!

I believe this is what the nurse did for me. She drew it up with 18 gauge and injected me with a 22. Although I can't really remember, sorry.
Yeah I'm sure she'll know what to do hehe, I was just messing around with it! My OB is giving me my shot on Thursday this week so I'm going to ask them how they do it just to be curious.
