Yep; I spent over 12 hours on pitocin and no pain meds. It was very hard, but I moved around a lot, used the birthing ball, got in the tub, etc. If you are determined to do it, you can do it.
Both times my labor was augmented with pit and I had no pain meds. The second time I think my midwife shut it off as I went into transition. My experience is it makes things much more intense, but it also helped me progress much faster. I think late stage labour is going to be tough no matter what, the pit just gets you to the end faster.
I just did this last Saturday. I was given pitocin to induce starting on Friday October 5th around 9:30 am. My baby was born on the 6th at 11:47 with no pain meds. It was tough, especially since I was exhausted from not sleeping for close to 48 hours, but I had my husband and doula to support me. There were points were I felt like giving up, but I kept telling myself that I could do it, that I was close. One thing I wish I would have done though, was insisted once labor had been well established that they take me off of the Pitocin. I had asked several times, but the nurses kept on brushing my request off. One reduced the amount, but that was about it. Otherwise my nurses were very respectful of my decision to go med free and didn't ask if I wanted drugs.

That is terrible that your request was not honored. I actually oked this approach with my OB before I was near my due date when discussing my birth plan. I got my wish. I had to be induced, but I was only on pitocin for 2 hours to get labor jump started (after cytotec overnight). More people really need to insist on this as an option because it is very doable.
That is good advice. Thank you!! I will be 40 weeks on Friday and that is my next appointment and my OB says we will schedule my induction for the following week. If I have to go that way I am glad to know that the pit can just jump start things and then I can have them stop it. Thanks!!
I did it, too! My water broke and I was 12 days late with my first baby. I was having zero contractions and was 0cm dialated, so literally was at step 0. My OB put me on pit. After 10 min. my contractions were 2 min apart lasting 90 seconds of that. I was young and didn't realize I could ask for them to turn it down. I was also determined though, so even though I wasn't allowed out of bed (even to pee- they catherized me), I got no pain meds for 9 hours. Hard work, but if you're determined you can do it. Totally worth it and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. I proved a lot to myself that day.
Good luck. Keep your head on straight and your mind focused. You CAN do it.
Did it and was so happy I did!! From the start time of pitocin and rupturing my membranes was only 6 hours, so it was a fairly quick labor for my first. You can do it! I was blessed to have such an amazing husband who was very encouraging and a nurse who was completely helpful with different ideas and positions during the labor knowing that I wanted a natural birth! Good Luck!

I wasn't induced with pitocin, but it was given to me when I was almost ready to push. DS's head was turned sideways and they wanted me to have stronger contractions while my MW tried to turn his head. I was still able to go natural, but at that point there was really no time to change my mind.
With DD1 I was induced on a friday. They had softened my cervix with something then saturday given pitocin. I didnt go into labor until sunday at 10am. I had a short labor ( 4 hours) and only pushed for 7 minutes so my experience is probably a lot different from many but it was a great experience pain med free!
Re: Pitocin and natural birth
I had pitocin and no pain meds. It was not fun, but doable. Believe in yourself and do your best
