Hi ladies! It's been a while since I have a chance to bump. Need some advice: DD is almost 11 months and is SO BUSY that she can't be bothered to hold still for 3 seconds during a diaper change. I used to be able to distract her but now she just chucks whatever she is holding off of the table and flips over ready to go. It feels like an Olympic event to just change her. Sometimes I feel like I'm squeezing her little ankles too hard while I'm holding them up to change She twists her whole body around!

So, what are your tricks to get your LO through the day's diaper changes?? She starts to throw a fit too if I demand that she holds still....I've got a sassy one!! TIA!!
Re: Squirmy during diaper changes....
I try to make DS laugh or talk to him with what I am doing and let him know that it will not be long. What is worse is when he does #2 he wants to check to see if his turtle is still there. So DH has to assist me with holding his hands so he doesn't get them covered in poo.
This exactly. I give her diaper rash cream, the remote, the comb or brush. That allows me about 2 mins to change her:)
A lot of great ideas already posted that I use as well-- especially the "toys they're usually not allowed to play with" one. I find it's more about changing up the toys presented to them on the changing table.
It's a serious Olympic event in my home too. He is so fiercely determined and wants nothing to do with a diaper change!!
Two other things I do: recite lines from his favorite books in an animated voice--is really works--for seconds--and give him a diaper itself to play with.
Hoping it gets better for all of us!
we go through this too w/ both our girls. I either give them a toy or sing to them which helps, but it's still usually always a battle.
This, mine is a big fan of my sunglasses and her ear thermometer. Even that won't keep her occupied the whole time though. I usually just have to try to hold her down and at least get the diaper on then let her stand up and readjust the tapes.
TTC #2 since 1/1/13
Honestly...most of the time I have just started changing him on the floor. I throw my leg over the top half of him and change him as fast as I can! (I'm a pro time wise now!) He gets really pissed off but he gets over it pretty quick. I started doing it like this though when nothing else would work.
He's better on the changing table but it's upstairs and sometimes I don't feel like hauling him there to do it when I have all of the supplies downstairs.
I put a burp cloth over her head and play "where's baby?!" She stays still for about 5 seconds before she pulls it off. Rinse and repeat until the diaper is on.
This, exactly!
All of this and then my cell phone.
