DS is actually in a Halo Sleep Sack--but a toddler one/has place for his feet to poke out so he can walk around. He's a mover when he sleeps; even if I tucked a blanket into the sides of the crib, he still gets out and ends up freezing
We still use the receiving blankets and some fleece blankets that are the same size. They work perfectly for DD. We just lay the blanket over her and tuck it around her body and feet. She still wakes up with them wrapped around her waist or snuggling with them, but doesn't wake up with chilly feet or hands.

DS is in a bed now but when he was still in his crib we used this. It was seriously awesome and kept me from getting up 5x a night to recover him because he woke up cold and crying.
I sewed a Yo Gabba Gabba quilt that DS sleeps with every night. It is minky on one side and flannel on the other so it is pretty heavy and warm. He doesn't usually stay under it all night, but he does know how to cover himself up if he is cold.
My DD is in a toddler bed now, and we try to cover her but she doesn't use blankets. The fleece sleeper is warm enough for her. But the blankets we have in are a Dora sheet and slick comforter (which pretty much stay at the bottom of the bed) and then her 2 special blankets, which are a light cotton.
DS is in a twin bed now so he uses a sheet, knit blanket and then a quilt on top. But when he was early 18 months-early 2's he used a heavier baby blanket in the crib. We transitioned him out rather quickly though once he turned 2.
We just stuck with baby blankets until she was moved to a big girl bed. To be honest she kicked the baby blankets off, so we focused more on having lots of jammies on (during the winter). She'd wear cotton top/bottom jammies and then over that feetie fleece jammies.
