Babies: 0 - 3 Months

2 1/2 mo old crying!

DD has been SO fussy for the last 3 days. She is extremely fussy in any position I put her in. She has on warm clothes, doesn't have a wet diaper, isn't interested in eating, isn't interested in distractions. Any more ideas? She is EBF so it isn't an allergy to formula. She pooped like 3 times yesterday so she isn't constipated. I have no idea what it could be. I hate the idea of letting her cry nonstop.

She will cry for about 3 hrs, take a nap, cry again, eat, take a nap, cry again, etc. We just don't know how to help her and the screaming is getting to us.

  • Does she have a fever? Does she have plenty of wet diapers?

  • Just took her temp - no fever. She's had a wet diaper about once an hour to once every two hours

  • Im so sorry shes not happy, it can be so upsetting having a crying baby! Have you called the dr? there isnt much to tell them but maybe they can suggest something. If it was my DD I would give her a small dose of fever/pain meds just to see if that helps settle her. Have you checked her mouth for teeth? Does she have any pain when you touch her or hold her?

  • Pedi's office closed at 4:30p so I have to wait until Monday to call. Around 5 I gave her a dose of acetaminophen an that didn't seem to do anything. Don't see any teeth forming. I checked her breath to see if it smelled like acid in case its acid reflux, but it didn't smell like it. Sh cries when she is laid down or held in any position except on my shoulder as I walk around. My back is hurting from doing this so long so I need to find out the problem.

  • Can you try wearing her in a carrier?

It could just be a growth spurt or a wonder week; don't be afraid to ask for help so you can step back and take a break. All that crying just fries your nerves.
