MIL bought my each of my kids a French sailor suit when she was in France this summer. Complete with beret with the red pom pom on the top. Now don't get me wrong I love them on girls. On little girls I think they are the knees of the bee. On boys though, well they are just a little, what's the right word...pretentious? Poncey? they are really not my style. So DD's I adore. DS's I have never put on him. MIL mentioned when she gave it to us that she had DH baptised in a French sailor suit. I said, at the time because I was drinking wine, that maybe it would be something to try for DS. Well DS is getting baptized next weekend. It's snowing here. The outfit is shorts and a t-shirt. Soooo not putting my son in that for the weekend. I told DH this and he agreed, the church is either super hot or freezing cold depending on how many people were at the service beforehand. I went to a formal children's store and got DS a three piece light brown suit (complete with tie and pocket square. Seriously. It's a-freaking-dorable.
So here is my thought. I am going to put DS in the sailor suit, get a portrait of him in it, get DH's portrait from when he was a baby in his sailor suit, having them framed together and give it to MIL. Good idea?
