Biting while nursing...already?!

Avery will be 11 weeks tomorrow and at her two month appt her ped said she is showing signs of early teething. Today while nursing she chomped down on my nipples at the end of her mealow! Can this already be happening? I guess it's time to break out the teethers. Anyone else?

Re: Biting while nursing...already?!

  • I'm EPing so I don't know about teething and BFing... But...

When I was trying to BF it was too painful because a lot of times my LO gums instead of sucking like normal. I would scream out in pain sometimes, and he'd eventually lose his latch.

Just wanted to let you know that I can, it could, feel your pain. Ouch!

  • Do you have a forceful letdown? Keith does this too and he is only 6weeks the LC said it is how they stop your milk flow when it's coming too fast for them to keep up with.

  • Oh you poor thing!
My lo does this some times and the lc said she has a really high pallet and that she just naturally likes to chew. Even when I give her a paci she chews it instead of sucking.
I haven't experienced true biting yet but when my niece was little she would bite and my sister would smush her face into her breast for a second and she would immediately stop since pulling her off while biting can be very painful! Good luck

  • Yup this. Liam would also clamp down and I'd yell out. Just powered through it! He do it anymore though. They learn.
