Do you flush them? I cannot make a clicky poll from my phone but need a lot of responses to get a good statistic. My friend grew up with septic and did not know people flush them. I also try to use cardboard applicators and flush them too usually.

Re: Poll flushing tampons
I don't use tampons anymore, but I would not flush them at home....I did flush them at work though.
ETA: I have never ever flushed an applicator though.
I flush the tampon but not the applicator even if it's cardboard.
No. I have been raised and all of the signs in public restrooms tell you no to flush.
Funny Ironic Story: I had a roomate that would throw away toilet paper (she was brought up this way) and flush both tampons and condoms. When the septic tank clogged and they had to call the plumber it was quit the show. We were renting a home, so it flooded the side of the house with both tampons and her used condoms (she was very promiscious).
Flush unless I am in an older house.
ETA: or a house with septic.
Same.
I was shocked at the fact that people flushed them. I always heard it was a plumbing no no.
Here's a UK website explaining why you shouldn't flush tampons.

It translates well.

Why the difference between septic and public sewer?
You can still clog the pipe that leads out to the street. Then all your waste backs up into your house. Not pretty to see poop floating across your floors.
No, never flushed a tampon and always told not to (always on city sewer, never a septic).
I'm shocked at the people who flush both a tampon and the applicator?! I guess b/c I work in water remediation, that I don't forget about what happens to wastewater after the flush. You know that solids like tampons and applicators have to be removed by the wastewater plant before they treat the water and RETURN it to your lakes/streams/oceans, right?
...baby #3 is here...
This. LOL. We have a trash beside the toilet for things like q-tips, tissue and other "acceptable" items. We have a can under the sink with a lid for condoms, tampons, diapers.
