Working Moms

Need a gift idea

Hello!
This is not working mom related, but thought some of you may have some suggestions for me. I have a bday party for a little girl turning 3 and need a gift idea. I know she love love loves princesses and is going to Disney in November - if that gives you any guidance. This is a little girl who has just about every toy imaginable and more clothes than she could ever wear. I was thinking some sort of personalized gift or something, I don't know I am at a loss. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I would spend up to $100 for the perfect gift, but would like to keep it more like $50 to $75.

THANKS!

Re: Need a gift idea

  • I'm a big fan of giving books, and there are a lot of great princess books that are special, either w/ figurines or puzzles, etc. and three is about the right age for starting games, I'm sur there is a princess related one, or there are always the classics like candy land.

  • This is my new go to gift for kids ages 3-6.  I got it for a four year old earlier this year, and just ordered one for a soon to be three year old as well.  I pay extra to have their names stiched on, and then fill it with various art supplies.   So cute!  It's great for them to take on car rides, flights, in restaurants, etc.

  • Books yes, also (I post this all the time)...Lego and Little People make Disney Princess sets now. I would say Legos are learning toys as they promote skils that help with Math...many girl toys don't offer that, so it's great Lego is finally designing some of their sets aimed at girls.

  • I agree with PP's about giving a gift that enhances learning. Puzzles were a big thing for me when I was little- I loved doing them. Books, puzzles, LEGO blocks, coloring books is what I would lean towards. Even if you incorporated something fun/cute like a cabbage patch doll that has her own certificate or a build-a-bear that has her name and the bear's name on the certificate? I would've loved that at 3 as well. At age 3, however, any gift is "perfect" so all of these ideas could work.

  • At that price range, you could consider a music "box"--I've seen in Hallmark stores some of the disney princesses beautifully painted with music from the respective movies.  They're beautiful.
  • Start her a nice charm bracelet.  You can get a really nice disney princess charm and start her off and then get her a new charm for future birthdays and holidays.  She might be a little young now but seeing as she already has everything it would be nice in a year or two.

My niece is 3 1/2 and loves disney princesses.   She loves to wear her charm bracelet.

I think this is also a great idea. I bought my God daughter a bracelet for her 3rd birthday that had a charm with her initial on it and she loved it!

  • Someone asked a similar question not too long ago. I went and dug out that thread for you. Maybe you'll find some good ideas there? (Oh and my suggestions are in there, too)

Also, I really like the idea of a charm bracelet.

  • Thanks for all the ideas ladies -there were some great ones! I especially loved the charm bracelet - I think I will do that for her next year when she is a bit older...

I decided to get her an American Girl baby doll that wears these cute pink pajamas and then got her the matching pajamas. I know I would have though that was awesome when I was that age! Hopefully she likes it!

    Thanks again! :)
