How would you spell Maya?

Pronounced my-uh.

It seems that Maya is the post popular spelling, but this is a name with multiple accepted spellings.  Other options we are considering are:

Maia

Mya 

Does it matter?  Which would you choose?

Maya is the only spelling I like.  The other spellings look weird to me.

Our DD is Maia, spelled this way.   We knew the more traditional way to spell it is Maya, but we just did not like the "y".

In the book, Thumbelina, the prince changes her name from Thumbelina to "Maia" spelled like our DD.  The quote is something like, "Thumbelina is not a nice enough name for someone as beautiful as you.   I shall call you, Maia".   We thought that was so neat, and we bought her a copy of the book for her first Christmas the year she was born.

FWIW, I don't like Mya.

I really don't like Mya. I know it's correct, but it looks funny to me for some reason. Like it's missing something.

If you want to avoid May-a (like the month sounding), definitely use Mya! That's what I would do

Yes, I think so.  I think it's just a matter of preference. 

FWIW, I think Maya, Mya, Maia (even spelled this way) is common enough that people know how to pronounce it.   I think you will be fine either way, good luck with your decision.  Either way, it's a great name!

I Love Mya. Maya (even though correct) looks weird to me, I can quite put my finger on why-I just really do not like it spelled that way.

Maya is probably the most common. I like Maia, because of its (admittedly obscure) origin in Greek mythology, but I think Maya's fine.  Mya looks odd to me and I think it might be mispronounced.

I never understood the Maya thing. I don't see how that says MY uh...MAY is may. My is MY.
Btw...i love Mya!
