Toddlers: 24 Months+

are you giving vitamins to your toddler?

At our 2 yr check up the doctor didnt even mention them and now that my daughter is starting school/daycare 2x a week, my husband and I thought it would be proactive to start her on them and help with whatever nutrients she isnt getting from food since she is such a picky eater now.

Re: are you giving vitamins to your toddler?

  • We don't but DS is a pretty balanced eater. If that changes, we'll likely start giving him one but for now  I think he's fine (and the pedi said the same at his 2y appt).
  • We give our son gummy vitamins. More so because he asks for them and likes them. :)

  • Both my kids are really good eaters and eat a variety of fruits and veggies, but we still give them a flinestones multivitamin every morning. If for no other reason, it makes me think I'm doing my best to keep them as healthy as possible to fight off germs at school :-)

  • She gets 1/2 a flintstone vitamin a day - at 2 our pedi checks for anemia and she was slightly anemic so we started her on them then. But, I do like the idea of a vitamin since she is a picky eater.

  • Sometimes when we remember. I have gummy vitamins for both girls. I really just started a few months ago. DD1 never got vitamins as a toddler, but she was much less picky then than she is now.

  • The sheet our pedi gave us at DD's two year appointment said we could start to give vitamins if we wanted to.  We got lucky and DD is a wonderful eater so we don't do a multi-vitamin.  The only thing we started giving her just recently was Vitamin D drops, just one drop on a piece of food.  I did that because with summer being over I know she is probably going to need extra Vitamin D.
  • We do, just because she goes to daycare and I teach so we have a lot of exposure to germs.  She is a very healthy eater, but I just feel better about her taking a vitamin. We take ours together at night, and she is actually the one that reminds me every single night!  She takes the Flintstones kind.

  • Yep! A few days a week I will give her the Flinstone vitamin. She loves it & loves to hear it 'crunch' between her teeth!

  • We do,but it is because i am pregnant again and DS always wants to take medicine  when i take my prenatle. So i got him the flinstones chewables first vitamins. For ages 2-3. No iron in them, so no worry. But he likes them. And feels big.

  • Our pedi prescribed one with flouride last year at the 2yr check-up and another one this year with more flouride. We have well water, hence the need for flouride.

  • DD has been on a multivitamin with fluoride from the Dr. since she was a few months old, we still use it every day.
