  • How far along are you? What size fruit is your baby this week?I'll be 14 weeks on Saturday, so baby is the size of a large peach. Yay 2nd tri!
Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?Next appointment in 11 days. I am excited to be able to go to an appointment in a relaxed state since I have the doppler at home to hear baby's heartbeat!
QOTW: Have you been singing or reading to your baby this pregnancy? No, I keep meaning to have DH read to baby in Danish. I did a research paper on bilingual infants last semester and learned that babies do actually begin learning language in utero. When tested at birth, monolingual babies showed a clear preference for their native language. Bilingual babies showed no preference at birth between their two native languages. Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?We are house and dog-sitting for my parents for the next month while they are in Europe. We sleep over there, but there is a lot of back and forth (we live 5 minutes away). My dog is very needy. She is 15 years old, mostly blind, and pretty deaf. I don't know yet, but I imagine it is like taking care of a newborn!

Our Angel Patricia born sleeping 3/30/12 at 31 weeks
Our Fighter Anna born early 1/8/13 at 26 weeks
Hoping to bring home #3 due 9/9/15

  • How far along are you? What size fruit is your baby this week?

I am 16 weeks and 5 days--an avocado becoming an onion.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? We had our a/s today.  Everything that can be measured and looked at this early was looking good!  So today was a good day (though yesterday and last night was harder--very nerve-wracking waiting for the a/s).  Last pregnancy I went into labor the day after our a/s, though last time the a/s was also two weeks later.  So we've got that loss milestone in two weeks and I can't wait to be past it.  We also have another OB appt. on Tuesday.  We do them every 2 weeks just for anxiety which is very helpful. QOTW: Have you been singing or reading to your baby this pregnancy? Not yet.  We were just trying to figure out when the baby can actually hear.  I've seen everything from at 8 weeks to not until the 3rd trimester?  I know last pregnancy I saw something that said 16 weeks, so I think I'm going to stick with that even it's not true.  So we should probably start any day now.  My wife really wants to read Little House on the Prarie to the baby, but *I* don't really have much interest in listening to her read those books.  I said maybe I could wear some headphones and do something else while she is reading those books.  Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?  We found out today baby is a girl.  Her name will be Ada Alice!  (Alice after her sister who we lost.)  We've started referring to her as Ada already.  It feels a little strange to refer to a baby at this stage of pregnancy with such a grown up name--we had been using a silly nickname.  I think we might end up doing a combo of Ada and that nickname for now, but it is nice to know she has a name.Other than that, just trying to make it through the next 2 weeks as best we can.
BFP #1 9/21/11. EDD 6/4/12.  Twins discovered at 8 weeks. Twin B lost at 14 weeks due to megacystis.  Alice Joe born and lost 1/5/12 at 18.5 weeks due to pre-term labor.

    BFP #2 7/11/12.  EDD 3/23/13.  Ada Alice born 3/20/13.

  • I am late to post, so I am 20 weeks today which I think is a banana.

We just passed a major milestone-the anatomy scan. That is when we learned that Avery would most likely die, and it was such a relief to get a good report.

I haven't read or sang to this baby yet. Maybe I will start soon though.

I am starting to feel more positive and my excitement is slowly outweighing my fear. We are definitely having a little boy and I am just starting to get to the point where I am comfortable buying things for the baby.

    My angel Avery- 2/16/12, My rainbow Blake= 3/4/13, Joyfully awaiting #3 5/11/15
