Re: ***Loss Check-In***

  • Have you taken any new steps towards healing this week? Not really. But, Devon's stillbirth certificates arrived at the funeral home today, and I'll go pick them up this weekend. That was the last "official" thing I was waiting on in terms of his loss, so I feel like I can close a chapter of my life and move forward.
What is the next goal you have set for yourself? Do you have a plan to help achieve that goal? I want to prepare myself for TTC. H and I have decided to start trying again during the Christmas holiday, so I want to get back on the healthy wagon - running, taking my prenatals again and making sure everything with my body is in order.
QOTW: I know this one has been asked before, but I thought it would be helpful for new Loss Moms. Are there any books or other resorses that you found helpful after your Loss? Honestly, this board has been my best source of comfort. And the CarlyMarie Capture Your Grief project [and her blog]. Those have helped so much.
Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? I just feel...weird. My loss still hurts, and I still cry [a lot] every night. But I'm back at work and back on a schedule, and it feels like my life is starting to come back together. At times, I wonder if I've grieved for my son long enough or if I'm throwing myself back into work too soon to push the pain of losing him aside. I don't know. I just feel...weird. Happy to be back in the real world but sad to move forward without him.

This was my first week back at school. It was emotional to say the least.  It definitely helped me to get back into a normal routine. We need to pick up Zachary's birth and death certificates and his ashes. My DH really is unsure what to do with the ashes once we get them home. We started talking about where we want to scatter them.  In the next few weeks we will actually go to these places to help narrow down our choices.

What is the next goal you have set for yourself? Do you have a plan to help achieve that goal?

Next big goal? Start running again.

QOTW: I know this one has been asked before, but I thought it would be helpful for new Loss Moms. Are there any books or other resorses that you found helpful after your Loss?

I've started reading Empty Cradle, Broken Heart which is good.  I have to second the PP who said this board. One of the things that also helps me is writing about Zachary.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?

My doctor's appointment next week and I think I have bladder infection (I was diagnosed with one the week before Zachary was born). Honestly, they did not have me finish the meds so I am not surprised if it is back.
