Well the ball has officially started rolling in our foster-to-adopt process and it sounds like it could potentially roll quite fast!
Last night we had our Orientation meeting and were handed our application paperwork and met our case manager. Here's some of the highlights of things I learned that will really impact us:
--Indiana requires ten hours of foster care training, not twenty. And our orientation last night counted as three hours worth!
--You CAN have a boy/girl sibling set sharing a room if they're both under the age of five, and that includes for adoptions, so we're no longer limited to the same gender!
--I asked our case manager how long it typically takes to get licensed, and she said if we're really on the ball without procrastinating and there's no hangups, she said "A month and a half to two months, maybe. You could be licensed by Christmas." WOAH!
--And then I asked how long does it typically take till our first placement? She said depending on how flexible you are, it could be that same month.
We registered for our fingerprinting that night, and I'm scheduled to get mine done today and DH is getting his done tomorrow. Once those come back clear, we can register for our online class and our last in-person class and by the end of October, we can have our 10 hours of foster care training completed!
