Failed, failed, failed

What devices/toys/etc. have other moms told you to buy because they were "a godsend, foolproof, the only thing that worked" that ended up being a total dud with your LO?

Mine was that dumb FP seahorse. 15 bucks wasted. He'd rather stare at this hideous orange horse my friend bought him. Go figure, the ugliest stuffed animal he has.

For DS1, it was the bouncy seat. He prefered to sit in his swing while it was off.

For DS2.....pretty much everything. When he screams at night, there is practically no consoling him--not with swaddling, rocking, bouncing, white noise, paci, etc.

The bouncer and Sleep Sheep. He much prefers the swing and usually screams in the bouncer, even though ours does bounce (it's a Bright Starts), and the Sleep Sheep does nothing for him, glad I got it on super clearance for $8.

Same here. As much as this kid loves to be rocked, he isn't a fan of the swing.

My older kids all hated the swing, so I refused to spend the money on one this time... and I'm almost positive he would love it..

The bouncer isn't a complete fail but he doesn't like the toy bar in it. Thankfully it's removable. Eh, he rather watch ppl. I'm pretty sure he would like the swing but am not about to go buy one and test out that theory.

We use ours. Roll up a burp rag put it under Lo's butt so that he is in a sitting position. That's what I do now that she's a little bigger. Before I would just swaddle her then put her in.

Same! It's the only place my LO will nap during the day! It's been a lifesaver.

Those bouncy, vibrator seats do nothing but make her cry though.

So far we are good on everything we have for DD. She may not like to hang out for too long in her swing or vibrating chair but she sometimes will fall asleep in them. DD1 LOVED her swing so having one that is iffy on it is different. Oh DD1 didn't mind the bassinet while DD2 absolutely hates laying flat so we had to buy a RnP. We use the cradle as her changing table now. What the heck is a sleep sheep? One of those womb machine things?

My seahorse died and DH can't get batteries in it. I am sad because DD loves it! The Moses basket was a waste for us. She hates it for some reason, but it is borrowed, so at least we didn't waste money on it!

The carriers! She hates the K'tan and the baby Bjorne. I think she doesn't like being squished in against my chest. Girl prefers her space! I'm going to try them both again when she's big enough to face outward.

The Moby. DD hates it with a passion. She was OK the one time I got her in asleep. DH wanted to get a cheap Bijorn-like carrier instead of the Moby but I insisted. If I'd given in, HE could be the one wearing her on our hike on Sunday. Instead, I'm trying to get DD to like the carrier at home between now and then. It's been a failure so far. I may have to go to Target and pick up an Ergo between now and then.

Both the Moby and the swing took some time for us, but now she will use them both. She actually was going through an I-hate-you-Moby phase which sucks, because it's so convenient when we go out. I had to change from the hug hold to the one where she's facing me and her body isn't on an angle.

With the swing, I had to turn it on full speed and blast sound, and it turns out that's what floats her boat.

I've tried the hug hold and the kangaroo hold with both legs in and out. She screams and punches my face and chest. It's heart breaking.

I'm convinced my child is the only baby in the world who hates it, haha.

Nope...my DD hates the swing, too. She cries the second her butt touches it. On the other hand, she could sit in her bouncy seat all day long.

Electric breast pump. Everyone told me that the manual is not enough, my hand would get tired, and I wouldn't be able to pump much. Wrong! I don't even use the electric. At all. The manual is all I need.

I stay home, though.

I dont have anything yet that is a total fail.. maybe the bouncer- only b/c I have not even taken it out of the box yet- DS LOVES his swing, and DH swears by the sleep sheep- I bought the on-the go sleep sheep and DS loves it on car rides!
