Tori Spelling is an idiot who had sex at 4 weeks postc/s before she was cleared to do so by her own admission and because she didn't want her husband to feel the spark had gone out of their marriage and who apparently thought BFing was foolproof BC.I'm sorry this happened, I'm glad she's okay, and I think she's possibly one of the stupidest women I've ever heard of. The fact that she will now be playing the Mommy Martyr card for all to see, and I'm sure writing a book all about it to boot, enrages me. Be safe. Follow medical advice. Don't be a damn IDIOT because your douche of a husband apparently puts his libido ahead of your health. My husband never even hinted at wanting sex before my doctor said it was okay. He's a bit more concerned about my life than his penis.
Lose the spark in marriage after 4 weeks? Sounds like a marriage with a good solid foundation. /sarcasm

This! Exactly. This woman and her husband made a seriously dangerous decision and paid for it. Thankfully, she and the baby are both fine.

Add me to this camp. She brought this on herself and I don't have a lot of sympathy for her decision. That being said, whatever the reason, that would be terrifying and I am very glad that both she and the baby made it through in good health. BUt yeah, she's a complete idiot.
Also, I didn't realize that placenta previa could be a life-threatening condition. I thought it was just something that could prevent a vaginal delivery. Learn something new every day, I guess.

Lest we forget this marriage was started when Tori Spelling poached her then-married husband from his wife/baby momma.
I forgot about that.
I just judged Tori Spelling for her poor lyfe decisions for the first time since her terrible plastic surgeries. Ohhhh Donna, Donna, Donna. ::shakes head::
And I'm highly annoyed that the Internet is turning this into a VBAC rally. I'm not a doctor, but I highly doubt that Spelling was a viable VBAC candidate with a fourth pregnancy ten months out from her third. I'm all for VBAC education, but don't make this something it isn't. This isn't about the evils of Caesarian sections, it's about tori spelling doing something irresponsible. I'm sorry, this whole story pissed me off.
I am with you scout. And no, she would have never been a viable candidate, they wouldnt have even entertained the decison. It was 100% automatic scheduled c/s. There has to be a very specific minimal amount of time that passes between birth and a subsequent pregnancy. I am willing to bet she was encouraged to terminate to avoid the complications that they ended up with.
Put me in the "she's an idiot" camp. I remember after she had her DS, she got PG pretty quickly w #2. I read an interview about how she wanted to start trying pretty soon because she was just "sure" she was going ot have trouble TTC the 2nd time and seriously spun it into how "lucky" she was to get PG so easily.
WTF?!?!?!?! As someone who really did go through IF, I find women like this nauseatingly annoying. she just "thought" she'd have trouble and therefore now she's just SOOOOOO lucky she got PG. When, in fact, she had no problems what so ever. And her subsequent 2 pregnancies after that prove the point even more.
I really dislike this woman and wish she'd just go away.

This. I have a friend that was pregnant at the same time as me. She had that condition. The only thing her doctor was worried about was her not being able to deliver vaginally. Her placenta did move, but she ended up with a cesarean anyway.

Of course the awesome irony of this is that she couldn't say no for 4 weeks and he couldn't consider her health for 4 weeks verses his libido and all they did was force themselves into a situation that then meant no sex for 4 months. Morons.
I agree that she seems really dense and made some bad decisions. I'm glad all is ok.
However, I just adore her baby/kid clothes. Or at least her first line (not the current one at JC Penney, which only goes to 24 months and is less expensive). Some of my favorite clothes for DS are from her Little Maven line. It was just adorable. I'm so sad she is no longer making clothes for older kids and wish she would start again. DS has almost outgrown his car hoodie of hers and I'm heartbroken. Honestly. She used to have awesome stuff.

I totally agree with you. She was completely irresponsible. She had to know the dangers involved with conceiving so soon after a c/s. My doctor was very serious when he discussed them with me after my one. She had already had three!
Mom to two beautiful girls and forever labor buddy to the fab lady MandaPanda518!
Am I the only one rolling my eyes at "ALMOST DIED!!!!11111!!"? I don't doubt she did have bleeding and bedrest, but to sensationalize it is really annoying.

I had the same thoughts, honestly. The story is in her words only. No doctor being quoted. Based on her previous exaggeration (and really, LIES) about having trouble TTC - I question the true seriousness of the situation.

Ugh, this is from another article: "Twenty weeks into Spelling's fourth pregnancy, doctors diagnosed her with a condition known as placenta previa -- a condition in which the placenta covers the cervix, leading to massive internal bleeding. She was even at risk for a bleed catastrophic enough to force doctors to terminate her pregnancy."
I wish journalists were objective and did some research.
Someone on another board said she suffured a uterine rupture, so this must be what they're refering to. But this was after the birth and doesn't say it was uterine, and I love the use of "burst open". Nice touch.

The 6 week wait is largely a medical convention. Many MW and OB will say resume when you feel ready, and many MDs will offer the wait for at least 4 weeks speech.
All things considered, I am amazed that Tori Spelling is as normal as she is.

That wait is just for sex.
It's clear cut that a body needs a lot of time to recover from the massive trauma that having a baby does to your body.
That's like saying someone driving drunk doesn't deserve censure because they aren't the first people to ever get behind the wheel intoxicated.
Stupid and reckless choices are just that, regardless if others have made the same stupid and reckless choices as well.
And thinking BF is BC is just icing on the moron cake. She risked her life, risked the life of this child and risked leaving her three other children without a mother so her husband could get his rocks off. By her own admission.
Stupid. And reckless.
I just have to laugh at comparing drunk driving to not waiting to have sex.
Let's just take her kids from her. She makes bad decisions.^^^
she made a bad decision to have unprotected sex 4 weeks pp. I don't think anyone would care if she and her husband decided to have sex using the proper baby barrier methods. The judgment is bc she had unprotected sex.

I have to agree with this. She is a media whore, and sadly she is going to use her story to sell it to magazines and more than likely her own book.

Wasn't she newly married at the time too. After spending gazillions on the wedding?
