Help! Those that own Ikea cribs

Hi we own the sundvik crib and purchased the mattress from ikea- I was told standard mattresses won't fit this crib. Well Lo hates the mattress and has been up all night! Any mattress recommendations that would fit the Ikea crib would be very appreciated:) Thanks so much

Re: Help! Those that own Ikea cribs

  • I own two Gullivers and they take standard mattresses from BRU.  According to Ikeas website the Gulliver and the Sundvik both take the same size mattress.  So get thee to BRU or your other favorite baby supply store and buy a standard mattress.  I recommend bringing a tape measure because when bought our first mattress at BRU it was about two inches too short.  We went back and got a different one and measured them. They were all an inch or two off from each other.

  • I don't have the sundvik, but we have the Gulliver, and it fits our Colgate Classica I.  Shop for a new mattress in-store.  Maybe the one we have will work for you.  DD sleeps so well on it!

  • Did you just transition to the crib? Are you it's actually the mattress that's the issue?

  • I was told the Colgate Classica mattresses fit well in IKEA cribs.  We have the Sundvik and are getting the Colgate Classica III.  However, the mattress hasn't arrived yet so I can't 100% be sure to tell you it works.

  • We have the Gulliver and were told that any standard size mattress will work. We have a Simmons organic one I think and it works fine. Just go to a store find one you like.

We have Gulliver cribs and the Colgate Classica III mattresses and they fit great.  If I had to do it all over again though, I'd pass on the III and just get the basic Colgate Classica.  We've never switched to the softer side of the III and will likely switch to twin beds in the next few months.

This is exactly what I was wondering - how would you know the baby hates the mattress?  It could just be that they are used to sleeping somewhere else like a PnP or RnP and they are having a rough transition.  I really don't know that I'd go out and buy a whole new mattress!  We have Ikea cribs and mattresses and the boys do fine in them but we've had them in there since they came home.

  • I have the Gulliver and this mattress.

The babies are not here yet, obviously, but I love the mattress. It was a great price, fits perfectly and seems firm yet comfortable.
