Babies: 0 - 3 Months

From crib to swing to crib

We started our son in his crib last week in his own room ( husband had to go back to work) and he was fine but starting two days ago he will only go to sleep in the swing will wake up if placed in the crib for both naps and bedtime. How do I get him to go back to the crib?He is 1 month old.

Re: From crib to swing to crib

  • I have a similar problem with my 5 week old. Posters have said its just a phase at this age. He falls asleep on me but once I lay him down, he wakes up. I just laid here and listened to him cry himself to sleep. He just stopped 3 minutes ago...it was so hard not to go in! But people have said he has to learn to put himself to sleep! Good luck!

  • Please don't let your 5 week old cry himself to sleep. He will learn how to self soothe eventually but he is too little right now.

Babies shouldn't be expected to fall asleep on their own until 3 to 4 months old.  You shouldn't be letting your baby cry it out yet, it's way too early.  They don't know how to self-soothe at this age.  If you read Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems or The Sleep Easy Solution you will find this information.

This. Please don't let your newborn cry it out - they can't self-soothe yet. There's plenty of time to sleep train.

Babies can't self-soothe at 5 weeks old. CIO at that point is cruel.
