Not adopting from China, but friends of mine are! They started their home study last September and they were matched with an 8 month old girl (in need of cleft palate repair surgery) this summer. July maybe? They are currently waiting on travel dates, which should be right around Thanksgiving! They've been able to send her gifts and get a few updates since they were matched. Very exciting!
If you have any specific questions I can try get answers for you or see if i can put you in touch with them if you'd like!

Taking a break from TTC to pursue adoption
Met our 2 year old son in Russia July 2012! Court trip October 2012 Home November 24 2012!
we just adopted our son from Korea this summer- but looked into China. Our agency,Holt international, has a great program for children from China with "special needs". basicaly, you fill out a check list, and they match you with a child whose needs you think you might be opened to. a lot of them are very minor, or correctable with medicine or surgery or therapies (physical, OT, or speech). you have a chance to have the child's file looked over by a doctor and all that before you"accept". i know that process is about a year or a little more- but for non special needs, it can be MUCH longer!
The only reason we didn't go the china "special needs" route this time is because this was our first child. For US, we just weren't comfortable with it for the first child, even thought many of the needs are very minor. The Korea process and program is changing A LOT so we may go through the China program if we adopt again.
After 2 years of IF workups/treatments and 2 IUIs, we have closed the door on fertility treatments. We are very excited to be pursuing international adoption from China!

I adopted DD from China in 2003. Great experience with a very happy ending! Took DD back in 2009 to visit her Orphanage, Foster Mother and see the sights. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

We came across this blog in our search. Granted they adopted 7 years ago, but it looks like they have some good info
