2nd Trimester

Just threw up for the first time..at 16 weeks! Help! Repost

-->

 Just posted this in the March board too..hoping someone could provide some insight

I've been super nauseous from about weeks 6-12 and then it significantly subsided.  I was just telling everyone yesterday about how happy I was that I was finally feeling better and then bam, I get home from work today and puked up my entire dinner.  Anyone else have something like this happen to them late in the game?  I'm hoping it was just something that didn't agree with me and it won't happen again ..

  • I think I finally kicked the all day sickness at 26 weeks.  Some people experience nausea longer in pregnancy than others and for some it doesn't kick in until later...every pregnancy is different.

  • Sometimes second tri vomiting is related more to reflux and acid and slow digestion than hormone levels like in the first tri. So an acid reducer might be in order if it continues. Just something to think about.

  • my nausea started before I even got a BFP but I didn't actually start vomiting until 12 weeks, and I was just about to start trying medical intervention(like prilosec, apparently it's supposed to help) when all of a sudden at 19 weeks it just disappeared one day...

  • I wasn't really nauseous in my 1st tri.  I'm 31 weeks now and I've noticed that if I don't eat at regular intervals I get sick.  I start with indegestion about 4 hours after eating and if I don't eat soon, then the nausea starts and get really bad.
  • I'm still vomitting at 24 weeks on a regular basis.  Count yourself in the lucky people group. :)  If you are having severe cramps, diarrhea, excessive vomitting, etc., you might have food poisoning or something, but one vomit is normal.

  • I had about 2 weeks of vomitting around 10-12 weeks. I was nauseous at other times but I only threw up on a regular basis during these weeks. The nausea started to ease up at about 14 weeks and I have only thrown up twice since then. Both times have been after eating chicken (my favorite meat prior to pregnancy) so Im guessing my daughter is not a fan. I have issues with other meats as well but only when I am eating large chunks at a time. Maybe she is a vegetarian. :) I hope this was just a one time thing for you and it doesn't continue.

  • Thanks for the responses. I had a spicy beef stew for lunch and dont think it agreed with me. I felt super bloated soon after and for the rest of the day, ate dinner not feeling awesome and threw up soon after. As soon as i threw up i felt 100 percent better..and ate a second dinner soon after : Just hope it doesnt happen again! Hope you all feel better soon too! :
  • People throw up, its okay. Just because your in the 2nd Tri doesn't mean you won't get sick everynow and then, it might even happen in your 3rd Tri.

  • With my last pregnancy, I had morning sickness (just nausea, but no vomiting) for the whole beginning of it. Around week 15 (if I remember correctly) I had a day where the whole day I just threw up and then after that day, my morning sickness was gone. Maybe that's what's happening to you.

    Good luck.
