XP: WWYD? New job

So I'm supposed to be going back to work on the 29th, but I just got offered a job somewhere else and accepted. The new employer is being super nice and is waiting to fill the paperwork with my start date until after I put my notice in at the old place. Should I give my notice now? Here are some things I'm thinking of that I need to consider and think I should wait till I get back:
Health insurance coverage both LO and I are covered by my employers plan
Can my employer take anything away from me regarding my FMLA if I don't go back?
I still need to go back to gather personal items from my desk.
There is a chance that if I go back and then give my notice or even if I give my notice now, that they will make that day my last day.

So, what would you do? Give notice now or when I am supposed to go back? Should I let them believe I have another job or am just gonna be a SAHM?

  • I would check out your employee handbook to make sure they can't take anything back.  For my company, I would have to repay insurance costs, the costs the company incurs which would be expensive.

I would put in your 2 week notice, let them know you've accepted another position.  You may have to work those 2 weeks to not have to pay your company back anything but then at least you'll be in the clear.
