Thank you notes...?

Will you write thank-you notes for ALL the gifts given to your LO for his/her birthday?

Just wondering what the consensus is.  I'm a firm believer in handwritten thank-you notes, but also feel like, these days, thank you notes are written for EVERYTHING.

I have always been a thank-you note writer too and I am kind of on the fence. I'm thinking about taking a pic of Jack holding a chalkboard with "Thank you for celebrating with me!" (or something like that) and sending it to everyone that comes to the party instead...

I got photo thank yous printed using one of her cake pictures. The front says "Thank you for helping me celebrate my BEE day! You made it extra special just by BEEing there."

Then I plan on writing a personal thank you on the back of each one. 

I think a general thank you without personalizing it is kind of rude, and you might as well not send one at all.

I finished writing them this morning. I am debating whether or not to give DD a marker or crayon and let her put her mark on them. I think it is important. I remember my mom making us write thank you notes for our birthday and Christmas gifts every year and I will do the same to DD.

Yes, I will absolutely write thank you notes for every gift she is given.
I write a note any time a gift is given with the exception of Christmas.nbsp; We only give/receive Christmas gifts from immediate family and none of us write each other notes for those, so I feel like I'm off the hook.

Yes. When someone goes to the trouble to select and purchase a gift, I feel it is appropriate to write a handwritten note.

Kind of nerdy but I had some Shutterfly thank you notes printed off with DD playing on dinosaur playground equipment to go with the party theme.

Yup.  It's a pain in the a** but I do it.

Hand writing thank you notes is a value I really want to instill in E. So this year I came up with (what I think is) a cute plan. On one side of the folded card I will let her scribble. Then on the other side I'll write TRANSLATION  and preceed to write a thank you from LOs perspective. I think it will be sweet.

Just out of curiosity which of the birthday gifts would you not write thank yous for?

We will be sending them out. However they may go out a little late due to us leaving for a CA road trip a few days later. I will probably wait until we get back from our trip and use a pic of her at Disneyland.

Yep. If you take time to buy DS a present, I can take the time to write a thank you card.

Thanks for the replies and opinions! Actually, what got me thinking about it was that someone at work brought in a cupcake for CK yesterday... While I was writing a thankyou note, my friend mentioned it was overkill to do it for every.little.gift. So I wanted to get the consensus. I already ordered some for her birthday to match the theme, actually, but I really like the photo card idea and the "translation" idea!!
