Pity party for one

I have tried so hard to not complain throughout this pregnancy--and honestly, there hasn't been much to complain about.  Until now.

I'm 30 weeks and haven't slept in days.  I have insane itching all over my body.  My heartburn is so bad I think I took 20 Tums overnight.  I have restless leg syndrome and pre-pregnancy arthritis.  I have a hard time breathing and daily headaches.  I can typically suck it up during the day but I just lay in bed wide awake dealing with all of these pretty minor issues--but when added up, ugh it equals zero sleep.

I'm over it.  I feel so uncomfortable in my own body.  Anyone else have this during your pregnancy?  Ideas for relief?  (you'd think I'd be a pro at this by now)

Re: Pity party for one

  • First off I want to say I'm sorry you're dealing with all this. I have crazy heartburn with Gray and ate tums like candy, I hear almonds can help. I don't really have much advice bc you've probably tried everything but here's what I tried: oatmeal bath and lotions, baking soda paste, apparently coconut oil is good for everything so maybe try that.

Silver lining you don't have much longer. GL and hope you feel better soon.

  • Thanks girls.  I'm hoping the Dr. approves Tylenol PM or prescribes Ambien for me.  I already take Benedryl for the itching and it's not doing much.  I just don't think I dealt with all of these things at once with DD or DS--although with DS I was so gigantic that I couldn't move so that interrupted my sleep.

Woodsie--I keep thinking that I dare anyone to tell me, "it's just practice for when the baby gets here".  Hello--I have a 1 year old, pretty sure I remember what sleep deprivation feels like.  And you are right--you might not sleep for long stretches but at least when you can sleep, it's restful and comfortable!

  • I have no advice for you either, but I wanted you to know you're not alone. I was told yesterday to rest more due to high amniotic fluid....really, with a 1 year old?! Everything is uncomfortable. I have a baby butt in my ribs. Every time I move its painful. Just keep remembering we're almost there! And when I think about how I'm almost there I also feel so sad about missing out on one on one time with DS. I think I cry EVERY single day. As much as part of me wants it to go quickly, a huge part of me doesn't. So again, while I have no advice, please know that you're not alone!!

  • Sounds familiar....here's what I did:

Heartburn - milk. Loads of cool milk. Not cold. Not warm. Cool. Carrots. Raw.

Itch: Benadryl. My doc ok'd it for me. Helps with sleep issues as well.

For the headaches, I was prescribed Demerol for my migraines. Tylenol otherwise. I found that chocolate sometimes helps (but makes heartburn). A coke and Tylenol works wonders if it is 'just a headache'. And make sure you drink a lot.

I have no suggestions for the rest. But hopefully, it takes the edge off a little bit for you.
