Nursing and Shots

Has anyone nursed while 2nd month shots were administered? I posted on FB about Audrey getting her shots today and a friend suggested it and then it was seconded by a neonatal nurse that I know. The nurse said it lessens their pain. I'm considering doing it, what do you think?

  • I was going to but was too nervous, I made DH snuggle her while she got the shots. As soon as they were done I scooped her up and nursed her...she was immediately ok. :)

  • DS sucked his paci while getting his shots, the nurse said it would help. Most babies are comforted by sucking.

  • I always nursed ds1after his shots. I offered ds2 during hs first round of shots last week but he wasn't interested and just fell asleep after crying a bit.

  • Sounds like a good idea to me. I gave him a bottle right after and he was fine.

  • Neonatal nurse here too, it would definitely help, but whoever gives the injections might not be able to do it while you are nursing...it's an acquired skill! If they are willing to try, go for it!
