EBF and fertility before getting IUD?

Ok, so my 6 wk checkup is tomorrow... I'm definitely going to bring up birth control with my midwife.

I'm considering an IUD, and I think I'll have to make a separate appointment to have it inserted. If I get the all clear to "resume activity" is there still a chance of getting pregnant again between my appt tomorrow and if I get the IUD inserted in a couple of weeks? I've been EBF since DH was born.

I'll ask my midwife tomorrow, but wanted to see if you all knew the answer or could point me to a good website that has info.
