So I know this is horrible, but DH and I don't have a will. WE have been talking about it for a while, blah blah blah. I know how important it is, but for some reason it always gets pushed back.
We are now going out of town and leaving the girls for the first time, I Know I need to have an emergency treatment form, but wanted to get something quickly typed up for the will, just in case. I Know I need them notarized... but I don't know too much about them. Anyone have any good resources they have used. I obviously looked online and there are about a million resources! Thanks!
Re: emergency treatment form, will, ect
If you just want something quick and temporary, I think nolo.com is pretty reputable. But, I would go to a family planning attorney ASAP when you get back and establish a revocable living trust to spell out who will care for your kids, make decisions, etc. I think a lot of the boiler-plate documents can have loopholes or language that isn't great, and if anything were to happen, you want to make sure your plans get followed exactly the way you want them.
If you have the legal planning insurance at work, I recommend going that route. It was like $10/month, and completely covered all the costs of our estate planning with a very reputable attorney. It normally would have been around $5-8,000 for all of the paperwork involved.
