Pregnant after 35

Did someone here post about papaya drops for heartburn?

I seem to remember it, but can't find the post...

  • I dunno, but I'll tell ya- Tums really weren't working for me. I actually starting sucking on a peppermint the other day and it killed my HB right away. So, that's my new tactic. :)

  • I've read that ripe papaya is okay but that papain-- an ingredient in raw, green papaya and one that is included in the papaya drops I just spent $18 on-- is not necessarily safe during pregnancy. I can't find definitive evidence, so I'll have to wait for my next appt. with my OB...

Maybe I can try peppermint-- although I've heard that peppermint causes uterine contractions, so my head keeps spinning with all this indeterminate stuff.

  • I have had to turn to Zantac b/c my heart burn and acid reflux is so bad right now AND it's only going to get worse.  I have been looking for a natural remedy b/c I hate taking any kind of medicine every day.  So far nothing works though except stupid Zantac:(

I don't have scientific proof, but I will say I think that's hooey. I drank peppermint tea over ice like a fiend for the first few months of pregnancy. It's the only thing that kept the nausea at bay and never had any kind of contraction. I eat peppermints daily. I think maybe if you drank peppermint oil you might have a (mental) problem? LOL! But, it's been ok from my experience thus far.

  • My weapon of choice is peppermint Tums (two in one!)
