Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Moby.. Creating a bad habit?

Let me say I love my moby and I love being able to wear dd. she is almost 4 weeks old. I wear her at least once maybe twice a day for about 2-3 hours. I'm just worried I'll create a need to sleep on me. She already sleeps on my chest from 4-8 am bc we do laid back BF so we can sleep. I guess I got the moby for more of a convenience for myself so I could be hands free and such. Thoughts from those whose babies are older?

Re: Moby.. Creating a bad habit?

  • My baby is 9 weeks, so just a little bit older, and we've been doing one or two 'moby naps' a day since he was about 1 week.  He STTN 9 hours in his crib, so for us, he doesn't have any dependancy on it. But he LOVES those daytime moby naps. Hopefully it keeps working well for both of us!

  • I wore LO a lot when he was younger (he's almost 3 months now).  I don't think it "created a habit", I think it got us all through those tough early weeks.  He naps a lot better now in the Rock n' Play or swing or even just on the floor on a blanket.  I wouldn't worry too much about it now!

  • Tell me about laid back nursing! I have googled how to and tried it but it didn't work. I thought it was because my guys are only 6 weeks old and lacking head control but your baby can do it and is younger! Please tell me how ! Thanks!
  • You can't spoil a baby or create bad habits. Carry on wearing.

I just do what they showed me in the hospital which is just prop myself up on a bunch of pillows behind me. Then I hold her head with my forearm. I also put a pillow by my arm for support. That position is amazing for me getting rest!
  • And thanks ladies!!
  • Just to echo what everyone else is saying - you don't have to worry about creating habits yet. My new-mommy group is run by a sleep specialist and she said you really can't create bad habits until around 4-6months, when sleep training is possible.

I love my moby too :)
