Doc said to switch to the gassy formula if she doesn't respond to the gripe water. I am seriously considering it. However, the first ingredient is corn syrup. There isn't any in the regular formula. Why is there corn syrup and is it good to give DD?
The gassy formulas have partially broken down milk proteins. My pedi said that the corn syrup helps to both act as a binder and to help get the gas moving (Karo syrup has been used in the past). Mine has a milk protein allergy and I have been using enfamil gentlease with gripe water as needed. Once a day she gets a bottle or two half gentlease and half nutramigen, depending on her gas levels

We tried regular formula once and it was vomit city. We switched to the Emfamil Gentlease and then to Target's Up&Up gentle when that got too expensive. The change was almost immediate. We use gas drops before bed and that helps as well.
