A Day Late: Self Care Check-in

Sorry this is a day late.  We're on vacation and I didn't get to the computer yesterday.

1) What did you do for yourself last week?

2) Last week's challenge was to pamper yourself.  What did you do to pamper yourself?

3) This week's challenge: Arrange a date night for yourself and your SO.  If you do not have a SO, plan an outing with a friend.

Re: A Day Late: Self Care Check-in

  • As I have mentioned before, my daughter recieves in home nursing care 106 hours a week (8 hours a night, every night of the week, and 50 hours of day time care for when we work).  While I am thankful we have this support, it is a double edge sword.  I feel like we have no control over our house.  So, this week, as part of our vacation, we are deep cleaning and de-cluttering our entire house.  So, for my self care this week, I bought a few items to help us organize certain problem areas.  So far, I've gotten our entry way and kitchen table completely organized and cleaned, and it feels so good.

In addition to cleaning, DH, DD and I decided to take a short trip on our vacation.  So, right now, we are exploring the capitol city of our state.  We've been to the zoo, and today we are taking a tour of the state house.  Then, I have a special surprised planned for DH tonight (his birthday was Sunday).  When we get home from our trip, we plan to resume cleaning and de-cluttering.  Overall, I think last week and this week are good weeks for self care.

  • I love the feeling of a deep cleaned house. Reorganizing is satisfying too!

Last week I gave myself a pedicure before yoga. I also scheduled 3 massages over the next few months.

This week my husband is out of town all week. My step-mom is coming over to babysit tomorrow night so I can go to my monthly "book club" dinner. We call it book club, but we don't read anything unless you count the happy hour menu, lol.

  • FAIL for me this week.  I was supposed to go get my eyebrows done and a pedi.  Doesn't sound like much but it's something.  Ended up going to BJ's, Babies R Us and taking care of the boys.

Oooh, I kinda did this week's challenge last Friday.  I managed to clear through my work and DH and I went out for BBQ after work.  It was a quick meal but it was nice to have dinner - at the same time - without rushing to feed babies or having to stop because Chris needs something.

Our anniversary is next week so that'll be our big date night for the month.  :-)

  • DH and I went to the mall last Friday. The mall is sad one but they opened a new yogurt place and DH and I got yogurt. It was not much but the yogurt was good.

I don't think I did anything to pamper myself but got ice cream because I needed it.

When we first had Chris, DH and I used to walk from our job (we work in the same office) to a hot chocolate place 4 blocks away to get hot chocolate. Then walk back to the subway to go home - we'd call those our impromptu dates.  It all counts!

  • I was sick this past week and gave myself liberty to be as lazy as possible and get better. I watched a lot of tv (something I normally don't do much of), and enjoyed every minute of it.

DH and I are trying to plan a date night because coming up is my birthday and our 10 year anniversary. I'm hoping we can arrange for something in the next month!
