Pregnant after a Loss

Showing but not showing?

Ugh I'm at that weird phase where I just look like I've gained lbs but not enough to look preg. Mat clothes are too big and regular clothes form fitting. I haven't told but 5 people at work and I feel weird showing what bump I do have bc no one really knows.
Today for instance I wore these comfy black non mat pants but a size larger than I normally wear and I looked and felt awful. Such an ugly ensemble. I'm usually very into the current trends and dressing up. But this in between stage is ugly bc nothing looks right.
Anyone else struggling with this? How have you dealt? I think I will feel better once I'm in mat clothes and everyone knows...

  • I don't have any good suggestions, but I feel ya. Between like 8 or 9 weeks and 14 weeks I just dressed like a huge frump. All I can say i that this too shall pass!

  • I know the feeling - I am a teacher and have worn maternity bottoms a couple of times. I just know the minute I wear a maternity top, students will start asking questions. I am ready to just tell them, but my bump is not big enough. I just look like I have gained weight.

    AL always welcome!

  • go to target and get a belly band. You can wear your own pants, you just wear the belly band over the top and can leave them unbuttoned/unzipped. Then you're in your own clothes and not spending $$ on Maternity clothes that dont fit well yet, and can breath and be comfortable... I gave up and got a pair of Mat leggings and jeans and will be getting some longer shirts tomorrow. I work in a coffee stand and get up at 3am. the last thing I want to do is be uncomfortable at that time of the morning...
  • Yep, this sucks.  I have nothing to wear at all to work.  I hate that damn bella band, none of my slacks fit, my maternity stuff is too big, and everyone must think I'm just packing on the pounds.  This baby's not exactly hiding.  At night I look as pregnant as I did at like 15 weeks with DS.

  • Yep, it's come on all of a sudden for me in the last few days. I have very few options for things to wear to work! I bought a belly band this weekend, and also splurged on a nice pair of jeans at Nordstrom in a bigger size that will get me a little more mileage than any of my current jeans, especially with a belly band. It was kind of a lot of money to spend, but I desperately needed something I look and feel good in since I'm feeling so yucky about my body right now. plus I'll be able to wear them postpartum. At least that's how I justified it to DH!

  • I feel your pain...I feel awkward in just about everything. I love thrift stores and I scored three pairs of Old Navy "real waist" maternity pants ($4 each!)  that are a size down from what I usually wear so they are fitting great right now.For tops I am sticking to bigger shirts and sweaters. All of my co-workers know I'm pregnant but I'm a social worker and I'm not ready for my clients to know. It is weird to be inbetween regular and maternity and if I didn't score at the thrift store I'm not sure what I'd be doing right now..All I know is maternity pants feel so much better when I'm sitting for long periods of time.

  • I'm 30w and I still can't wear all maternity clothes. Maternity leggings are a life saver. And belly band.

  • I love and hate the Bella bands. They work but after a few hrs start to roll and I'm constantly adjusting. Ah the joys of being preg. No, for reals I know it's all worth it!!
