MSPI moms-- how does your baby sleep?

Question for the MSPI moms, how does/did your baby sleep?

I just added starting adding dairy back into my diet and I'm watching for symptoms. (about 2 weeks now)  Prior to cutting dairy little ones only symptom was specs of blood in his poo.  Well since Thur. he has been sleeping really crappy (like up every 2-3 hours, not wanting to be put down.  He wasn't a great sleep before that, but he wake only once maybe twice a night and go right back the sleep after eating.)  He's probably just cutting another tooth or learning a new skill, but I can't help wondering if it's the dairy. . . I dunno. . .I hate to think I might be causing it.

Re: MSPI moms-- how does your baby sleep?

  • My baby usually sleeps 12 hours a night. The few times I've slipped up, he has been cranky and gassy almost all night. We're not challenging him again until after one year. He's not nearly as sensitive to soy as he is to dairy, so the pedi GI is having us start with soy for a month and then progress to dairy after that if he passes the soy challenge.

  • Food sensitivities definitely affect my DD's sleep.  Especially naps.  She will go all day without napping if her tummy is upset.

  • Even before his MSPI diagnosis LO was a bad napper but awesome at night. He currently sttn but only takes 30 minute naps. I have no clue if the naps are related to his MSPI but they did not improve once his system was clear of dairy/soy.

  • Megan... Sorry I can't help.  My baby is a good sleeper in spite of whatever is bothering his intestines.  Do you mind if I ask you a question?  It seems there are few babies whose ONLY symptom is the green poo with flecks of blood (seems like usually they are colicky, fussy, etc.)  How long did it take for the poo to look normal again?  I've been off dairy for 16 days and off soy for 5 and I'm getting discouraged.  Still lots of green/greenish brown and some mucus.  I've only seen a tiny bit of blood 3 times.  Baby is happy as a clam, thank goodness, but I go back to work in less than 3 weeks and if I need to do an elimination diet I'd rather do it BEFORE I go back to work.
