I have just been giving my girls some egg yolks and pureed fruit for breakfast for a while now. I want to try some different foods with them for breakfast. I was reading on wholesomebabyfood.com about doing pancakes with bananas in them. I was wondering if you give your baby that stuff is there a brand you have found that is more nutritious then others? I am trying to get them more onto table food and get them away from the purees. If anyone gives other finger food for breakfast what do you give to your lo?
Onto the formula question. My girls get 4 7oz bottles a day along with 3 meals a day. One of my girls hardly ever finishes her bottles anymore. Is this her weaning herself from the bottle and her way of telling me she wants more regular food?? She will sometimes leave 3 oz in her bottle and will refuse to take anymore. Obviously I do not want to force her to finish it, but she is and always has been much smaller then her sister and I want to make sure that she is getting enough food. Her sister eats everything that I give her. She rarely refuses a bottle or any food. So if DD is starting to wean herself from her bottles what do I do?? I feel like I have no idea what i'm doing when there is a change in their feedings.
Sorry if I am rambling and not making much sense with any of this. I am just a little confused about what to do with how much table food to feed them.
Re: 2 questions, breakfast food and formula amount
As for the bottles have you tried a sippy? My DDs consumption dropped big time when she was annoyed with a bottle when we switched to sippys she went from 12ish oz per day to the norm 24ish oz. our pedi isnt concerned about under consumption unless it was consistently under 12oz. If DD is growing I try not to worry and if it does worry me I like to ask our pedi it usually eases my concerns! :
DS eats everything under the sun (only table foods): for breakfast, he has had - dry cheerios, applesauce, scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, etc.
He has a 6 oz. bottle of formula upon waking, and eats his table foods about a half hour after that.
could you possibly need to move to a faster flow nipple? I was recently having an issue with DD not being interested in finishing her bottles and I also thought maybe she was weaning herself from the bottle. I went to the store for someone else and happened to see the next level nipple and it dawned on me that it could be her issue. Sure enough, things are back to normal. I had thought we were already on the fastest flow (Dr Brown Level 3) but turns out they make a Level 4.
As for timing, DD gets a 7-8oz bottle within 15 minutes of waking up and then gets breakfast about 45 min after her bottle - normally a bunch of fruit and either eggs or grains (pancakes, waffles, toast, etc)

I can't help with the formula, but for foods I don't really give anything storebought (other than the fact I buy my produce and ingredients at the store) besides yogurt.
For breakfast I usually give him a protein (eggs, cottage cheese, cheese, yogurt) and fruit (bananas, blueberries, grapes, clementines, oranges, strawberries, apples, pears, nectarines, peaches, mangos, pineapple, melon). Sometimes I will also make him muffins, pancakes or waffles and keep them in the fridge/freezer.
This morning he had some scrambled eggs sopes with salsa and cheese.
