daycare day 1

I was perfectly fine with taking ds to daycare. And then i picked him up and he looked shell shocked. Had a snotty nose presumably from crying. Didn't nap more than 30 min all day. Oh, and only finished one whole bottle so that by the end of the day he'd cumulatively "missed" more than half a feeding. This worries me the most as he us so slow to gain weight.

Also, there's one teacher I'll almost never be able to talk to as she only works 11 to 4.

Am i overreacting? He's probably just adjusting, right?

Re: daycare day 1

  • IMO you are not overreacting. I too have a baby who's weight has to be monitored and that would bug me.... DH and I interviewed several daycares last week and I was shoked at a couple of them and overall decided that we would not do daycare. Thankfully for us my MIL has always wanted to watch our child so we're lucky there. I'm putting aside all opposing feeling I had about this happening for the sake of my child and my piece of mind. On the other hand I've heard of great daycare experiences...it may have just been the first day. The best of luck to you!

  • I feel your pain. We put Ethan in daycare and it has been tough. I call to make sure that he is eating, etc. I may just be an over paranoid parent but its my first and i'm just worried. I hope everything gets better soon! Remember its an adjustment period. Stay strong mama!

  • I'm sorry, that must have been hard to deal with after your first day back.  But I would also assume that there's an adjustment period and you need to not get worried until a few days have passed.  Hang in there!

  • I say give it a few days.  There is definitely an adjustment period.  If it wasn't for the missed feeding, I would say give it longer, but that is something that can't be overlooked.  I hope tomorrow is better!!
