FYI Amazon mom and Subscribe and Save

I have been using subscribe and save without Amazon Mom for a while and this is a change that is new to me so I am guessing it is recent.  I recently bite the bullet and got the prime membership because with two in diapers I knew I could easily recoup the 80 and still save. So today I went in to setup a new item for diapers I have never ordered before and the soonest they could ship the diapers to me was Nov. 7th I played around with the dates etc.. and no luck the only way to receive  my diapers sooner is to pay full price.  The issue I have with this is how am I suppose to know what size my baby is in a month out?  My toddler yes but baby no.  I really wish Amazon would just do away with the program if they are losing money instead of making it difficult to use. I guess I will be calling Amazon customer service before every order to see if they can switch the size without me having to wait a month or pay full price ugh.... BTW they did fix my order today so I could get it before Nov. but said that S and S orders are arranged a month out now.

Re: FYI Amazon mom and Subscribe and Save

  • For the baby I would order a few sizes. Amazon has a great return policy if the smaller size doesn't work.

My two boys are getting a surprise May 2015!

  • Agree with PP.  It was an easy return process for the diapers.  I also do the subscribe and save and of course as soon as I received by schedule shipment of diapers, LO out grew them. So I just returned them to amazon.  No hassle or issues.  Received a full refund.

  • Yeah, it sucks.  Now you can get the discount OR the 2 day shipping. Not both.  I have heard that diapers.com has good prices and fast shipping, but I have never used them

This has always been the case but in the past if I needed to change the shipment date to earlier in the month I could without forfeiting the discount.  So for example if I needed a box right away I could select that option and no issues I also could start new orders to be sent right away, meaning without 2-day, with no issues.  Now they want all subscribe and save items to come the same day and be scheduled the month before.  Diapers.com is not bad and you can use pampers points to get $5.00 off.

  • But didn't Amazon buy out diapers.com?  I figured they would be exactly the same.  I have to say Amazon is getting difficult to deal with constantly changing their S&S stuff.  I might be switching.

I agree, we won't be renewing Prime.
For mine I noticed that it has to do with your selected delivery date. For me all of our SS stuff comes on the 14th so I have until like the 9th to change it or I have to wait a month. If I added a new SS item on the 16th I wouldn't get it until the 14th of the next month.
Most of my items still have a "need it sooner" option that doesn't loose the discount though.

  • Yeah, I can't believe there wasn't more of an uproar when this changed beginning of September. You can get items earlier than November 7th by changing your subscribe and save ship date. Try changing it to a week from today it should work. You can no longer request extra shipments, which really makes subscribe and save pretty lame now.

OMG I didn't even know they changed it!  This sucks.  Pretty sure I will NOT be renewing prime.  Hopefully DD will be PTing soon and I'll only have 1 in diapers.

  • I was really mad when they took away the 30% off and then also forced you to buy the prime membership.  I'm not quite clear on what the advantage is to Amazon Mom as it requires the Prime membership and so why not do away with the mom program and just have everything fall under prime.

I was not aware of the change in subscribe and save and I use that for lots more than just diapers.  I may just switch to something like Alice for my household items but I'll have to think more about where to get diapers.  Is Sam's Club good for that?  I buy Pampers Swaddlers for the first few months but then switch to Luvs once my kids hit size 3.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • This is very good info to have - I didn't realize it changed.  Not only do I (finally) pay sales tax, but now they're making it more difficult to get diapers.  Thankfully we should be done w/ diapers soon, but they're pricing themselves out of me using them whatsoever.  I probably won't renew my prime either!

  • We love Amazon prime and it's worth paying for me.  Without tax and shipping almost everything on Amazon is the best price.  I also use the streaming video.

I don't use the subscribe and save though. I think I'm getting a better deal at Costco.  They had a huggies coupon last month and I think we were at 19 cents per diaper.

  • I didn't know about the change either.  It's been very confusing!

thank you for this!  I was able to change mine to 10/16 instead of waiting until 11/1 (which I would have been out of by then!).
