Thrush

Went to one month check-up today and found out DS has thrush.  I had no idea!  We picked up a prescription and have to use it 4 times a day for a week.  It's good they caught it now because I guess it can transfer from baby to me while nursing and be painful.  Has anyone else dealt with this?  Did it clear up quickly?  They said the cause could be mom taking anti-biotics and I did get penicillin in hospital b/c I was strep-B positive so I wonder if that's what it was from?

E and I both had thrush. I used a topical cream, and E used an oral medicine.  I think you're supposed to treat the mom and baby (assuming mom nurses.)

DS2 and I got thrush. I only attempted to nurse him one time and I got it. Our dr told us to use the medicine 4x/day for two weeks. In theory it should be cleared up after a week and then use it a week longer to be safe. Well as of today we've been using it two weeks and he still has some white in his mouth (I'm done using it). I think part of the problem is that the dr never told me to sterilize all the bottles, pump parts, and pacifiers. I feel like if I had started doing that sooner the thrush would be gone now.

I had it with DD. it was quite painful but cleared up quickly. We used a special cream. My doc said it was probably from the antibiotics that both of us had in the hospital.

DD has it. She has been on meds since Friday. I just boiled all of the nipples and pacifiers tonight. I'm wondering if I should boil the bottles and other parts too. She also is on the ex for 2 wks 4xs a day!
