Pregnant after a Loss

Pain in tailbone anyone?

Holy moly my tailbone hurts so bad. I mean it makes it tough to sit for to long at an office job when my darn butt hurts so bad. I know it is common and I am not complaining to much LOL but man it is not fun.

What are you doing to help with your tailbone pain?

Re: Pain in tailbone anyone?

  • I am sorry you're dealing with this. Tailbone pain is the worst! I broke my tailbone twice as a kid, and have dealt with the pain for longer than I am willing to admit. My coworkers tease me, but I have an uber fluffy pillow in my desk chair. It helps some. Also try heat and tylenol as needed. Hope that helps!

  • OMG - I was just lamenting about this last night - it hurts so bad. I need an ortho donut cushion but don't want everyone at work thinking I had hemorrhoids from hell (I know, I am pg so thier imagningation will run anyway). I just try an get up at least once every hour and walk around when I am working and I stay reclined when at home, that seems to help. I hope someone else has a good way to relieve it while sitting!

  • Yup, I'm right there with you! Last night I just stood in the shower with the hot water aimed at my butt, lol. Try alternating a heating pad/ice pack every 20 or so minutes. That may help.
  • Acupuncture!!!! I had awful tailbone pain when I was 4 or 5 months. I swear I went for acupuncture ONCE and the painl was gone! It came back once or twice since but wasn't as bad and went away. Try it, it's awesome! Oh, and sit on a pillow if you can. Good luck and feel better!

  • Sorry you're having so much pain! About halfway through my pregnancy with Patricia I switched to a big stability ball at the office instead of a regular chair and that really helped.

  • Yes I have this too! I was laying on the floor in pain last night trying to stretch to get rid of it. I'm going to try acupuncture as PP suggested.

  • When I had my first, my pelvic bone separated in labor and didn't line up all the way when everything was going back together. one of my legs is actually about an inch longer than the other one, and i still have pain almost 5 years later. I can't sit leaned back for a long period of time, and sometimes I have to lean forward and wait for it to pop before I can stand up with out it hurting too bad. After it first happened I had to take codine for the pain and see a physical therapist because it was so bad.

If you can, try standing about a foot away from a table/counter and putting your foot up then lean forward. You'll feel it stretch the back of your leg and tailbone. Thats what the therapist told me to help with what I had going on, it might help with yours as well...

    Good luck!
