Big deal, themey party with lots of people, all the family and friends, all their kids. But we're doing it at our house, and it's mostly cake, ice cream and presents. Smash cake photos and some regular ones and new family pics.

DD's birthday is on Thanksgiving this year. We plan to have a mini celebration as dessert on Thanksgiving day. The few friends/family we have in town will be at Thanksgiving, so it seemed silly to have another party with the exact same people. And to be honest, we weren't in love with the idea of spending more money than we need too..that makes me feel guilty, but oh well..I'd rather save it for future parties. the only other kids will be DD's cousins - we are the first in our group of friends to have kiddos - in fact, many are still single! We plan to do a smash cake photo session with her first b-day pics next month
Party at our house. Inviting immediate family and a few close friends, some of whom have kids our kids' ages. Probably 20 people total. From 3 - 6 p.m. We'll have lots of food and cake, balloons and I'm sure people will bring presents, but that's fine. It's a first birthday!
Hopefully it's not too cold out as I imagine us being in our living room/dining room, downstairs in our rec room (a great place for kids to play) and some of the dads/relatives hanging out in our backyard enjoying a few beverages.
It was just going to be us and the Grandparents. I was going to have family photos done with the grandparents, and just dinner and cake. Now it's a hullabaloo. We're going back to our hometown and inviting "just" the family...we have a huge family though. So I am renting a room to accommodate the madness. It's been fn planning, but yeah, poor kid won't even remember it. It's more for everyone else.
We're having a pretty big party at a restaurant. We're renting their party room. That way I dont have to worry about anything just bringing my minnie mouse decor! We plan to have family and friends...mostly adults...but the few friends we have w/ kids we're inviting and little cousins.

We had a big party in a park. It was a big deal in that my relatives from all over the country flew in for the party. We invited family, friends with kids, and the women/children in my mom's group. We didn't have a smash cake photo session because I wanted his first experience to be at the party, so we just took pictures there.
Re: What are you doing for your little one's first bday?
We are having a party at a hall for friends & family. A lot of family has not met him yet so we figure it would be the perfect time.
We plan on doing a smash cake session with his 1 year birthday pics.
