Any tips on drying up a runny nose?

Lo had a fever in Wednesday night and a runny nose started. No more fevers but the runny nose has stuck around. I have little noses saline mist. Have used tht a couple times. I use the bulb syringe which she absolutely hates! Also have a snot sucker which she hates even more. It is so hard to use on we but I know that it makes her feel better. Aside from that is there anything tht will help dry up her runny nose??

  • You can't dry up a runny nose without also dehydrating and constipating her. You can keep using the saline to thin the mucus and flush it out more quickly. Put petroleum jelly on her nose frequently to keep it from getting raw, and use a piece of damp t-shirt instead of a tissue to wipe. But other than that, the best thing to do is let it run its course.

  • 20 min in a steamy bathroom will help loosen it up too. And we love Boogie Wipes around here!

  • Hyland's makes "Tiny Cold Tablets" that I've found to work really well. They are specifically made for runny noeses. In WA I can only find them at Walgreens, and our Target just started carrying them. They work wonders for DS! Oh and a battery operated nasal aspirator is also quite handy.
