I know this has been posted before but...mine has kicked in in full force when I lay down. Kept me up quite a while last night. I'm sure eating pizza for dinner didn't help! I ended up drinking a glass of milk, eating tums and trying to sleep propped up. Problem is, in order to prop up I've gotta lay on my back and when I do, I contract more.
Is anyone else doing something else that's working? Any suggestions? I know this is only gonna get worse...

~*~*Everyone Welcome*~*~
I'm not in my third tri yet, but heartburn has been killer for me this entire pg. I too wake up gaging on stomach acid. My OB told me that Zantac was safe, & it's been helping. I only try to take it when I really need it. A glass of milk, Cheerios (weird I know), or ice cream help. I've also started propping myself up while I sleep. Good luck finding something that works.
Tum...tu-tum-tum...TUMS!
Seriously, my heartburn has been killing me since the middle of second trimester. Tums help, but they don't stop it completely so it's a lot of just gritting my teeth and muscling through. When my diet changed with gestational diabetes it got a little better, but honestly it seems to kind of operate independently of any dietary choices I make for the most part.

Zantac and Prilosec are on the safe list from my OB. Tums is not strong enough anymore but I will take it if my symptoms are mild. I have taken Zantac when I was pg with DS and I take it occasionally when I know I will have bad heartburn. Pizza, red sauce, anything spicy or rich creamy sauce will do me in. I won't give up pizza just yet

I also take Pepcid when my acid gets out of control, just make sure your taking the Pepcid AC and not the complete, my doctor said there is extra stuff in the complete that we shouldn't be taking. Also I find as far as going to sleep it helps if I have something in my stomach before bed so my stomach isn't building up acid all night. I usually I have a string cheese right before bed, it seems to work well and it's easy and quick to grab so it's generally my go to before bed snack.

I am on zantac and it has really helped. My MFM recommended it and I was super hesitant, but I am really glad I gave it a shot because I have been sleeping so much better.
Also, I second the milk shake comment- those helped a little too. Plus who doesn't want an excuse to have a milkshake?
