How do I stop the gagging?

Everytime Eli eats something with texture, he gags/starts to choke. ?He has the okay from the doc to start giving him soft bananas and cherrios/puffs, but everytime he tries it, he starts gagging. ?What do I do? ?Will he ever eat more than just pureed food?

Yes he will eat more than pureed food, he just may not be ready yet!  Keep things really small and model chewing for him.  I would try having him self feed and also try feeding bite size stuff on a spoon..make sure to keep the spoon level and wait until his lips form around the spoon before removing it (I hope this makes some sense?!).  I would practice with the puffs or tiny ice chips because they melt in your mouth. The other possiblity is if you puree your own food slowly make it thicker and thicker and then eventually leave little chunks in it.
