CLICKY! What Would You Do?

Here's the scenario:

Its 3:30am and you just got up for a feeding. You change the baby and feed him/her. Just as the baby is done eating and is passed out, he/she sharts.  It's not a full on poop but you're pretty sure there's at least a skid mark.

Re: CLICKY! What Would You Do?

  • I have a hard time telling which farts are loaded, and Paula is quite the little fart monster sometimes. Usually it's either just gas, or the tiniest bit of a mark in her diaper, or it's a full on poop. So when she farts I don't rush to change her. Now, I can hear when the poop is flowing out of her, which is a terrifying sound, so I'd wake her up and change her at that point. But if she was recently changed and there was a questionable fart I'd most likely just wait it out or address it if she suddenly got mad.

  • I would have to change LO because he hates being dirty, and would grunt until he is changed.

  • If she had just fallen asleep, I would change her, but if she had been out for awhile and I was about to put her down, I would let it go as long as it didn't sound loaded. It's hard for me to answer, because big sharts wake my DD up anyway. It's only the small, dry-sounding farts that she can sleep through, and I don't worry about those.

  • If it were my baby I would change him.  He doesn't really have trouble getting to sleep.  Now if I had a baby that was really hard to get to sleep, I don't think I would disturb him for a shart.

  • I would check the diaper (risking waking him) to see if it was really just a shart or if it was more than that.  E is tricky like that.  I guess it would depend how often they are waking up too. if the are going to be sleeping in it for 8 hours I would change it but if they will be getting up in two hours I'd probably wait it out

  • It depends on whether or not he has any diaper cream on.  Or if he's already got any bit of diaper rash.  I always slather DS's bum with Vaseline for his night diapers so that I don't have to worry about a teeny little poop.  Obviously, if he already has a rash or seems to poop a lot, I would change him.
  • I can tell when DD poops because of the sound it makes so I change those because she blows out easily but when she sharts, it's just a tiny skidmark and I leave it if she is asleep. It doesn't make her fuss and she doesn't get diaper rashes so I see no harm in it!

  • I'd change him because if sitting in the poo were to result in diaper rash that will suck WAY more than waking him up one night for a diaper change!
