Would this be wrong?

So in my post below, pedi wants me to transition DS to the crib but I'm not ready. Right now he's in his room in the RnP and I'm sleeping next to it on an air mattress. Would it be okay to put DS's mattress on the floor next to me do he gets used to the mattress and I can be right next to him since I'm worried about SIDS? It just seems somewhat wrong to put him on the floor but I'm not ready to put him in his crib. Please be honest. I'm trying everything and this be the millionth thing I've tried to start to get him to sleep flat.

  • I think it Would be the same if u had a matteress on the floor. As pp said do what u can. Babies r creatures of habit. U created him sleeping in the playpen now switch it

  • Honestly I'd put him in the crib. I wouldn't sleep on the floor. I'd sleep in my bed. Make sure all precautions are taken and you have a monitor. He'll be fine.

You do whatever you want and are comfortable with. There is no wrong answer, short of unsafe crib and cosleeping practices.

Okay wait, I read this wrong I thought you were putting your mattress next to his crib. No, I wouldn't put the baby on the floor on mattress. Can you sleep in the nursery with him in his crib? That seems like a good compromise.

That's what I was thinking that way I'm still close but not level so he won't know I'm in the room.

  • If you're going to put his mattress on the floor and sleep next to him, you might as well bedshare and be comfortable, IMO. There are safe ways to do it. The only con to that is that he'll probably get used to sleeping next to you...but I take naps with Sergio once a day and he doesn't mind not sleeping next to me the rest of the day and at night.

I'd put my mattress on the floor and him in the crib if you don't want to bedshare. But, honestly, I'd just put him in his crib, have the monitor, and sleep in my own bed. You'll hear him if he cries and as for SIDS, as long as you take the necessary precautions (no blankets/stuffed animals, pacifier, fan), I wouldn't be too worried.

  • Gave up ... Put him in RnP in my room. He's a horrible sleeper. I'd rather wait until he's sleeping longer stretches before the transition out of our room. I'll at least start putting him to bed drowsy so I don't feel like a complete failure.
